Rand Paul gör preventiv attack mot 2016-rivaler

Kentucky-senatorn Rand Paul - hjälten bland republikanernas libertarianska falang - vars aktiekurs-värde som potentiell presidentkandidat var tämligen stor när te-party-hypen var som störst och inrikespolitiken fortfarande stod i centrum. 2014 gjorde Ryssland och ISIS att fokus ändrades till utrikespolitik och Rand Paul hamnade i skuggan.

Nu gör han vad han kan för att slå sig tillbaka in spelplanen, och har de senaste dagarna kritiserat i princip samtliga sina potentiella primärvals-konkurrenter, något Politico här skriver om. Om Jeb Bush säger han i intervjun med Politico följande:

“He’s been a proponent of Common Core, a proponent probably of a much bigger government — a Big Government Republican who believes more things should be occurring in Washington rather than decentralization,” Paul said of the former Florida governor. He added that his rival’s brother and father, former Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, also backed education policies aimed at “more Washington control.”

Om Mitt Romney:

“I think you are already hearing rumblings that he had his shot,” Paul said of the GOP’s 2012 presidential standard-bearer. “I think he could have been a good leader of the country. But I think many people are going to say, ‘He’s had his chance.’”

Och om Marco Rubio, som anklagat Paul för att kampanja för Obamas utrikespolitik efter att Paul gav stöd till Obamas beslut att häva embargot mot Kuba:

“That’s sort of silly,” Paul said. “We could ask the same, ‘Is he the biggest cheerleader of Obama’s immigration policy?’ That’s childish.”
